Jemaa el-Fnaa Square

At the center of Marrakesh’s world-renowned medina lies Jemaa el-Fnna Square. Visitors can be entertained by fortune tellers, snake charmers, and poets by day. By night, musicians and food vendors descend on the square. Be sure to explore past the main square to the maze of souks selling everything from carpets and spices to the much more unusual.

These gardens leave some people underwhelmed. Secret Garden (Le Jardin Secret) is an alternative closer to the medina.

Kasbah District

A walled residential district within the medina and next to the Badi Palace, includes the present-day palace for the King of Morocco (not open to the public). Start at the Bab Agnaou gate and wander through the historic streets, ancient ruins, and authentic shops.
