Lisbon
A classic beauty, Lisbon never disappoints.
Belém
Top Site
Home to some of Lisbon’s most important sites including the Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Palace (where the current president lives), Belém Tower, and the Discoveries Monument, take your time wandering through this notable district. It also includes the famed Pastel de Belém, although local experts recommend Pastelaria Careca instead.
Baixa and Alfama
Top Site
These neighboring districts make up the historic center of Lisbon and are full of beautiful avenues and the city’s signature tiled buildings. Famous sites include the Praça do Comércio and Santa Justa Lift. To cover more ground (and get a break from Alfama’s hills), take a ride on the celebrated Tram 28.
Mouraria
Neighborhoods to Check Out
Also known as the Moorish Quarter, it is the most diverse and multicultural area of the city. Over 50 nationalities are represented in this historic neighborhood, with each being reflected through the street art and eateries. It is also home to Fado, Portuguese folk music.
